The First Art Mod Fair 2017

Megatrade Hall 2, SM Megamall, Ortigas --- Last 9th of June, Friday, 2017,  the very first Art Mod Fair had its 1st out of 3 days at Megatrade Hall 2 at the 5th level of SM Megamall. Art Mod Fair is organized by Mr. Anton Magpantay of Artiste Spece Inc. In cooperation with SM. Art Mod Fair is an exhibit of art works like visual arts, paintings, mixed media, latte art (coffee art) among others. It features both professional & amateur artists. It supports both seasoned & starting artists. It even has a booth for artists under 16 years of age.


Among the more noteworthy exhibitors was Ronnie Lim who by profession is a medical doctor. On Ronnie Lim’s booth 67, this correspondent finds a plethora of untitled works which strikes the impression or idea of chaos, blue, earth, energy, enigma & creation.

On Ronnie Lim’s other booths, we see detailed paintings of the Philippine Eagle, pitta (an endemic creature), kingfisher (a bird). Coy (a pond fish), a red arowana, a lone white horse & a ferocious tiger.

Equally noteworthy & also praise-wrothy is William Borja’s booth 53 which exhibits 103 artworks donated by various artists to help Sir William’s wife’s medical expenses. His wife has ALS sickness and an interview with Sir William reveals that Sir William is pressured to earn 200 thousand pesos per month just so that he can sustain his wife’s health maintenance needs. There is no known cure for ALS sickness. The medication is meant to maintain functioning & lessen patient-suffering. For those who wish to extend support Sir William’s wife, whether you are an artist or not, you may check the Facebook Group “Donation for Medical Needs of Sophie” which is a public group at Facebook.

Barista and Coffee Academy of Asia was present in the fair to grace exhibit-goers and demonstrate latte art which is a coffee art.

This Art Mod Fair brought to this correspondent’s attention that Angono (Rizal) is the art capital of the Philippines. There were numerous Angone groups who exhibited at the fair such as the Blanco Family Museum & NEO Angono Artiusts Collective among others.

Sir Anton of Artise Space Inc plugs that from August 20 to August 27, they shall be organizing an “Art for Everyone Fair” to be held simultaneously in 9 different locations all over the country.

Art Mod Fair is expected to have regular seasons in the upcoming years or maybe months. Art Mod Fair runs at Megatrade Hall up the 11th of June.
