Must try 10 Swaadisht Cuisine & Bar dishes , according to Indian community leader Manjinder “James” Kumar

Indian community leader  and Filipino Indian Commerce & Welfare Society Inc. (FICWSI) president Manjinder “James” Kumar” reveals the 10 dishes he always orders from the newest Indian restaurant in town, Swaadisht Cuisine & Bar.  Kumar grew up in a household that strictly made home cooked vegetarianmeals. “My mom is a champion when it comes to vegetarian dishes, and my late dad used to be a chef too. Given this background, my taste buds have been accustomed to eating really good home-cooked Indian meals even if I grew up here in the Philippines,” he says.
The affable Indian national also says that what he loves about Swaadisht is that its food, particularly the curries, “are not too oily and have a well
balanced acidity to it.” He attributes these good qualities of Swaadisht creations to the restaurant’s kitchen overseer, executive chef Bishnu Khatri.

Here’s Kumar 10 best.
1. Rogan josh
“Rogan josh is a Kashmiri dish made of mutton pieces slow cooked in
Indian gravy. I always tell my non-Indian friends that it’s similar to the
Filipino caldereta except that it’s cooked with Indian spices.”
2. Roast leg of lamb
“This is a must if you’re out to dine to celebrate a milestone or take your
wife or girlfriend on a date. It’s a whole leg of lamb served with gravy on the
side. It’s big enough for sharing.”
3. Chicken tandoori
“Swaadisht, hands down, is the best Indian restaurant now to serve the
traditional chicken tandoori. Mark my word.”
4 . Homemade chicken curry
“I love chicken, next to vegetarian. To me, the homemade chicken curry is
like the adobo to a Filipino. It’s my comfort food. I love that it’s healthy
being that it’s infused in fresh Indian spices and cooked with lots of ginger.”
5. Chicken masala
“Another favorite. I alternate this with the homemade chicken curry.”
6. Prawn makhani
“Also known as butter prawn, this is mainly tiger prawns cooked in creamy,
buttery, tomato-based curry. Prawn is my favorite seafood.”
7. Shahi paneer
“Paneer is a unique Indian delicacy made of cottage cheese so I strongly
promote it to those who are not familiar with it. It’s like a firmer version of
the tofu. It may not be as popular as the tandoori dishes or the curries but
the paneer is truly Indian. Shahi paneer is a very delicate dish cooked in a
creamy buttery sauce. It goes well with other Indian dishes that have
stronger flavors, and is good to be eaten with Indian bread like roti or
naan.”
8. Dal tadka
“I love dal tadka or yellow lentils. It’s a Punjab dish. My mom makes very
good dal tadka so I can tell a good one from a bad one. Swaadisht is one of
the restaurants that make very good dal tadka that tastes closest to my
mom’s version.”
9. Aloo gobi
“Aloo gobi is a dish made of aloo (potatoes) and gobi (cauliflower) cooked
with lots of turmeric. I always request for more gobi, less aloo, when I order
this dish.”
10 . Chicken biryani
“Chicken biryani is Swaadisht’s bestseller in the biryani range. It’s basically
basmati rice cooked in special homemade concoction of spices, vegetables
and generous chicken meat. This dish alone will get you filled.”

DynaQuest, Helping Philippine Businesses in their Blockchain Journey

Global business is being changed by the rapid advance of frontier technology. These technologies such as Blockchain have allowed consortiums, Fortune 500 companies and global enterprises to rethink and reimagine how transactions are done. In fact, according to the executives in the recent Deloitte’s Global Blockchain Survey of 86% have set Blockchain as a priority of their business strategy and transformation in the 2020s decade, while according to Forbes Business Insights, the current rate of global Blockchain adoption projects that the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of Blockchain enabled markets will be at staggering 56.1% in which the global Blockchain market will be worth $69 Billion by 2027 from $2.1 Billion in 2019.

With this acceleration of Blockchain adoption, the market is at the precipice of huge changes: there will be new leaders, new challengers and there will be new forces that will challenge the status quo. With this acceleration of Blockchain adoption, the market is at the precipice of huge changes: there will be new leaders, new challengers and there will be new forces that will challenge the status quo. Failing to adopt and transform with the technology will prove to be a major hindrance for business in terms of their competitiveness, cost-efficiency, and long-term survival beyond the late stages of the decade.

Blockchain is leading the frontier technology in the business transformation department as the platform is being primed as the essential backbone of business and enterprise information. To date, Blockchain is already making transformative benefits into the world of banking and finance as global banks are in a position to save between $8 to $25 billion annually from infrastructure operating costs. Further, Gartner estimates that the annual business value derived from Blockchain will be worth at an estimate of $3 trillion by 2030 and by the same year, Gartner projects that 10% to 20% of the global economy will be running on Blockchain-based systems.
In a closer look at the impact of the technology in the day to day micro processes; Blockchain allows businesses to verify and process information seamlessly while significantly cutting down on costs from delays resulting from transactional data needed to be verified by back office work. As such, the transformative effect follows a broad but extensive market where portability and interoperability are dictating markets and their convergence. It leaves no room for silo and niche as the technology of today is easily ported or retrofitted to fit diverse industries, aligned markets and used as turnkey factors against even the most unique cases of business needs.

Blockchain Transformation
In just a few years, Blockchain has progressed from a buzzword, to a nascent technology and to the most sought after technology in business transformation. The early adopters were the consortia consisting of the world’s biggest banks, the world’s tech titans and the global leaders in trade and shipping. The promising results of their respective use cases demonstrated new levels of efficiency being reached alongside an optimise process with very little friction as much as possible. It wasn’t long until enterprises began forming strategic partnerships to explore the Blockchain space and how the technology can reinvent their business as well as reach new levels of competitiveness. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) published a report named Global Blockchain Survey. The report states:

Financial services industry accounts for 46% of the advancement in developing Blockchain, while industrial manufacturing (12%), energy & utility (12%) and healthcare (11%) are trailing.84% of leaders responded that their companies have some involvement in Blockchain 30% of the survey respondents believe that China will be the leader in global Blockchain infrastructure by 2023 and 18% believe that the United States will still be the leaders of Blockchain, as 29% of the same respondents stated that from 2018-2021, the United States are the current global leaders.

What is truly astounding is how we went from “Wow to Now” in the business transformation with Blockchain. We are seeing the years grow shorter in between adoption and commercial viability towards Blockchain’s maturity. Since every business-minded person now has a grasp on Blockchain’s process, the question is how businesses – such as the SMEs can get started in Blockchain – given the depth of requirements and steep learning curve of the said technology.

Despite the challenges, the SME market is projected to grow at a higher CAGR from 2020-2025 according to MarketsAndMarkets’ Blockchain Report, in reference to the technology becoming more portable, accessible and more adoption models emerge out of the solutions market in the coming years. In fact, there are already proven Blockchain framework to follow out of the SME market in the form of the following:
• SMEs and Associations banding together to form and fund a Blockchain alliance
• Key partnerships with technology and solutions providers
• Study and build upon the Blockchain as a Service emerging market where instead of building your own, you can sign up with a provider to enable Blockchain basing on your use case. Blockchain Transformation in the Philippine Economy
The Philippines has always been an early adopter of emerging technologies: from relational servers, to cloud computing and virtual infrastructures, the country’s largest businesses and banks are always the first to adopt to key technologies and they are always setting the standards. As the country is gearing up for an economic recovery from the pandemic and seeking new grounds to establish new levels of economic opportunities when it comes to frontier technologies, Blockchain transformation is among the prime ventures in which most businesses will make it as a priority in this decade. Today, banks, startups and strategic partnerships between regulatory bodies and global technology providers are leading the way for Blockchain adoption in the country. Key transformation in the following economic zones will help uplift the country as it roars back as a tiger economy in Asia and the Pacific:

• Blockchain in Banking for unprecedented efficiency in operations
• Adoption of digital wallets and managed digital identities for economic inclusion
• Technological transformation in healthcare and insurance for overall better health
outcomes
• New tech hubs and tech economic zones to drive in frontier technology investors and
capital venture
• Adoption of fintech to help businesses and the government save billions annually from
paper-based and traditional transactions.
• Blockchain adoption in shipping, trade and logistics to enable greater value in the local,
regional and global value chain.
The pandemic has stunted the growth of the Philippine economy. From what once a very resilient economy that was able to withstand several global financial contractions, had posted economic losses from last year. Such losses were not seen since the aftermath of the second world war. As a catalyst for recovery, the key economic areas of the Philippines must include process efficiency and cost-efficiency:
• Business – Improve overall efficiency of the business and transaction process
• Government – Improving efficiency in its overall administrative structure from day to day management to the efficiency of its tax collection, mobilization on projects and law
making.
• People – Promote an inclusive economy to promote and encourage economic
participation from its poorest sectors in order for these sectors to become productive in
their economic contributions on areas such as microfinance and tax remittance.
• Economic Zones – Create more special economic areas to attract investors on frontier and
catalyst technology to help boost the global competitiveness of its province / regions.

Do you remember the Enhanced Nutribun launched by the Department of Science and

Have your children tasted the Enhanced Nutribun?
This is what the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) include in food packs for their feeding programs since it is not possible to offer the usual “hot meals” during pandemic.

It will also serve as a call to all entrepreneurs, prospective technology adoptors and other
stakeholders to continue the fight against the country’s malnutrition problems and contribute to the government’s efforts towards zero hunger.

and milky that is acceptable for all ages.
Each bun weighs approximately 160 grams, which is the recommended amount for one serving.
When packed in polyethylene (PE) plastic, it can last up to 5 days at room temperature.

One serving of Enhanced Nutribun with Carrots contains 500 kilocalories, 18 grams of protein, 6 milligrams of iron and 350 micrograms (ug) of vitamin A.It can provide 31% of energy, 59% of protein, 60% of iron, and 90% of vitamin A, based on the recommended energy and nutrient intake of the Philippine Dietary Reference Intake (PDRI) of a reference male child six to nine years old.

The DOST-FNRI is inviting adoptors of the first variant of Enhanced Nutribun, bakery
companies and even bakeries in communities to become adopters of the Enhanced
Nutribun with Carrots technology to make it more available to consumers nationwide.

UnionBank of the Philippines develops virtual platforms to continue serving customers safely during COVID-

Through Microsoft technology, UnionBank empowers employees to create platforms to deliver excellent customer service throughout the pandemic

Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank), one of the largest and profitable banks in the country, continues to redefine banking by introducing automation to its Treasury & Investments Channel Management (TICM) workflows and experience. Built on Microsoft technology, UnionBank is creating solutions that optimize operations and allow them to better serve their customers and stakeholders in a remote everything world.

The TICM unit of UnionBank handles large volumes of outward remittances daily that rely on face-to-face transactions. With the Philippine Government's imposition of Community Quarantine, these transactions had to be conducted remotely by both the customers and the bank's staff. Looking to create an easy-to-use, virtual platform for everyone involved, Dapple del Mundo, Distribution Operations Team Lead of TICM at UnionBank, looked into the bank's partnership with Microsoft and expand the bank's utilization of their solutions through Microsoft Power Platform.

"One thing we like about using Microsoft apps is that it's already here, it's not an added cost, unlike asking an external or third-party developer to develop something for us. In terms of editing or updating, it's easier now since we can do it ourselves", del Mundo said.

Covid-19 Pandemic Drives Innovation
The Microsoft Power Platform is Microsoft’s low-code platform that allows everyone to build web and mobile apps, improve workflows, and gain insights from data while ensuring security. It enables people with little to no coding knowledge or experience to become developers and build intelligent solutions that integrate seamlessly with the rest of Microsoft’s world-class products and platforms. It serves as an end-to-end business solution, maximizing productivity, efficiency and collaboration in a remote everything world.

To manage efficient transactions remotely, the TICM harnessed Microsoft Power Automate. This application within Microsoft Power Platform allows users to easily create automated, multistage workflows across a variety of services and applications. One of its primary functions is to boost users' productivity by saving workflows into everything from individual tasks to large-scale systems with seamless integration using hundreds of prebuilt connectors.

"What surprised us were the learnings that we got from this flow—this one single approval flow that had multiple conditions and a tricky setup—we managed to adapt and mirror it with other bank processes like bond issuances," explains del Mundo.

The Treasury and Investments Channel Management (TICM) unit saw an immediate improvement on its productivity and efficiency; resulting in improved client transactions and faster service despite the entire experience being conducted online. According to del Mundo, the bank was able to simplify the whole process of remitting. It also significantly improved the coordination and communication between Treasury and Remittance through Microsoft teams. This allows them to have visibility to internal processes in real-time to track the approval procedures and give timely feedback.

Digital Banking Benefits Employees and Customers
UnionBank Trust & Investment customers can now receive copies of their statements, proof of investments, and remittances with e-signatures that can be easily accessed remotely—anytime, anywhere.

Through UnionBank’s continuing innovation, customers benefit constantly through improvements in their experience that are not only more convenient but ensure their safety and peace of mind during this unprecedented period. Moving forward, they maintain their focus on driving innovation within their organization to provide the best service and experience possible, transform banking in the Philippines and aid in the nation’s economic recovery.

"It is imperative we extend the capability of automation not only to our IT team, but across all employees of the bank," says Paulo Martin Santos, Enterprise Communication and Collaboration Head at UnionBank. "Thanks to our partnership with Microsoft, now our whole team can truly be digital to the core. This is just one clear example from our treasury group, but we have several groups building their own automation without coding"

Clinical trial projects will require a minimum of 6 months and can extend to years. That is how long we have to wait to have results and conclusions. Considering, however, that there are almost 20 completed and 40 ongoing clinical trials around the world as reported in clinicaltrials.gov exploring the use of Ivermectin formulations against COVID-19, the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) is of the position that there is no need to conduct another clinical trial in the Philippines.
As most ongoing clinical trials have already been implemented since 2020, it would be appropriate to await the results of these studies that are already significantly advanced in terms of data collection and conducting interim analyses.

DOST-ITDI to Pivot its Backend Innovation, through Innohub sa Pinas webcast March 31, 2021

The Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI), in its bid to contribute to industrialization and progress through R&D initiatives, will conduct a webcast for its newly opened Modular Multi-Industry Innovation Center (MMIC) or InnoHub sa Pinas on March 31, 2021.

Following MMIC’s successful launch in December 2020 and inauguration in February 2021, ITDI once again invites industry partners and stakeholders to share their insights and expectations about the new facility.

InnoHub sa Pinas is an industrial processing facility with multifunctional/multi-application modular unit operation equipment that can be retrofitted to accommodate different manufacturing lines.

It is built to serve the needs of the food, personal care, and pharma-nutraceutical industries using its three main processing lines for nut/seed and oils, mix blend powders, and liquids/emulsions which rely mainly on by-products of commercial operations as raw material. In effect, new or novel products are made out of processing wastes through backend innovation.

Further, InnoHub sa Pinas is open to academe and other interested stakeholders for use in research and development of new products, product equivalent, product variances and product reintroduction.

As one of DOST’s big 20 tickets for 2020, the facility is set to become a one-stop-shop for product conceptualization, development, and marketing, thus collaboration with significant industry and other users is important to sustain efficient services.

It expects that with InnoHub sa Pinas’ modern equipment and devices, as well as experts to lead the operation, previous deficiencies that may hinder advancement in STI will be reduced. (DDGotis\DOST- ITDI S&T Media Service)
