Chino Roces, Makati – “Talking Heads” art exhibit by Reen Barrera was launched at Nova Gallery @ La Fuerza 1 subdivision last May 13, 2017, Saturday, 5pm-8pm.

“Talking Heads” features a character by Reen called “Ohlala”. Ohlala shows up either on painting or as a doll.

A friend of Reen we shall refer to as Paul T. explains to Today Online what Ohlala is. Ohlala is a character that transforms into numerous forms of being human. In the introductory write-up, Reen notes about socioeconomic differences (lower, middle, upper). And in the middle class, we can divide it further: lower-mid, middle-mid, upper-mid. There’s even a possibility of a super class above the upper class.

Ohlala has a dog and that is Duge. Duge also shows up in various forms.

Some take away interpretations from the artist himself who took up Fine Arts at Far Eastern University is merely 26 years young (paraphrased): We are all humans. We are the same on that regard. But there are just differentiating circumstances and factors.

Reen was explaining to Today Online why a number of the Ohlala’s have their eyes closed.

Eyes closed means one is not limited by one’s reality and that one can freely create and imagine.

Reen advocates: “I would want them to see that life is about what you make it. Life is short, do what is right and do what you love, that’s what I want everybody to do, no hate just love. We are all like Ohlala, we have a choice.

… the power to make things happen for ourselves.”
