Disaster-Proof Your Business: For SMEs, Startups and Freelancers

   Images of looting of department stores, flooded offices, and overturned delivery vans in the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda still lingers in the minds of a lot of entrepreneurs.  Are you ready when it is your turn?  It begins with planning.

   Freelancer.ph, along with iAcademy School of Continuing Education, has created a short seminar on how SMEs, startups and entrepreneurs on what experts are claiming an EVENTUAL scenario for all of us especially here in Metro Manila.
This keynote talk aims to give insights on how businesses especially the startups can mitigate losses upon taking more proactive actions in handling disaster risks.
The audience will also be provided a better appreciation of what went wrong and what went right in the recent natural calamity incidents experienced in the country.  Recommended natural disaster risk- handling tips and techniques will be discussed coming from the collective learning experiences.

We will discuss an overview of the objectives and options for SME business continuity options that covers:

- Defining Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Objectives
- Recovery Point Objectives / Recovery Time Objectives
- Typical Solutions (In-house Media, Offsite Tape, Cloud, Replication)
- Evaluating a solution

We will also show how to recover the investments in our assets and equipment if they are damaged.
"Disaster--Proof your Business" is rooted on the principles of risk management in project management as it is implemented in big companies but simplified to become more suitable for small and medium businesses as well as for freelance professionals.

Seminar Fee:
The fee is only 200 pesos.  The 150 pesos goes to our pizza and drinks.  The other 50 pesos will be donated to the Yolanda victims.



About the Speakers:
Mr. Jeremy Lim
The speaker is an experienced business innovations and project management specialist who has spearheaded and successfully pioneered various strategic change initiatives for big companies.  He holds multiple certifications in the field of quality, innovations and project management and has fielded small startups. He does freelance consulting for business leaders, startups, SMEs and freelancers during his free time.
Seasoned Black Belt Practitioner is currently working as the Six Sigma Program Manager in Unionbank of the Philippines in-charge of the bank-wide program implementation, timely delivery and realization of project benefits. 

With almost 15 years of industry experience across manufacturing, BPO, banking and financial services, has passionately spearheaded and successfully pioneered various strategic change initiatives like TPM, Kaizen, Six Sigma and Business Process Management (BPM).

Has trained, coached and certified Belters within 10 years of continuous practice
- Trained 400 White Belts (basics), 80 Orange & Yellow Belts, 170 Green Belts, 3 Black Belts
- Project Coached 30 Orange Belts, 54 Green Belts, 6 Black Belts

David Lambrix
Mr. David Lambrix currently heads the enterprise sales efforts for iXSforAll, Inc., a Makati-based network services provider with extensive fiber optic facilities in the Metro Manila region. David has over a decade of experience in the design and implementation of network solutions which maximize network security, efficiency and return on investment.
Prior to coming to the Philippines, Mr. Lambrix has acted in an executive capacity with Matrix Cable Systems in Jakarta, launching the first privately operated submarine cable in Indonesia. Additionally, he has held leadership roles with publicly traded telecommunications providers in the United States and Europe.
David has specific expertise in the development of highly available networks for enterprise clients, with specific focus on disaster recovery, risk analysis and business continuity solutions.
Erickson Tan
Erickson is a consultant for Risk Assessment and Management, Investment Planning and Advisory, Retirement Planning, Estate Planning and Wealth Management, Education Planning, Tax Planning, Hospitalization and Medical Plans, and Mutual Funds Placement.
His advocacy is to propagate financial literacy in every Filipino whether rich or poor, which will eventually contribute to the progress of the economy. A consultant for business and household risk assessment and management, Investment Planning and advisory, Education Planning, Tax Planning, Hospitalization and Medical needs, Retirement planning, Estate planning and Mutual Funds Placement, by which all forms part of Wealth Management as a whole. He teaches financial planning to employees at the workplace whenever invited.
