A Tour To Remember At Quezon City @75 Diamond Jubilee

Got me excited after knowing that I'l be joining the QCblogventure, I'vealways been fond of Quezon City, not only that I was born here, at St. Lukes.  I have so many beautiful memories of the place. Like back when I was still a kid, my mom would go to our relative  at New Manila, and that we will get to pass through those big and old mansions along the way, I was just fascinated with its architectural designs..

And when I was already in college at PUP Manila, I would  watch films and plays at British council and Goethe at Aurora Blvd.
It is also here that MowelFund and Big networks are situated. Also the Titus Bradsma, with has been screening internaational and critically acclaimed films since 1994. and also the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) is an organization of creative and critical artist-teacher-cultural workers here, founded by Cecile-Guidote Alvarez, in 1967.

So on the event of our blogventure we got to tour the east side of it, which the University of the Philippines is situated. Agaim memories came back, cause it is here at UP Film where I have seen a lot of award winning artfilms.

We first went to UP Town Center, a newly build mall, were family and friends can bond, with choices of eateries and shops they can go. We had our sumptuous lunch at Wingman.
After  that we headed to UP Vargas Museum, where we were tour by Ms.Veronica (museum assistant) at the whole museum from first to third floor, where  Mr. Vargas art collections from our great artist like Luna, Hidalgo, Amorsolo etc are maintained and being cared of,

Then off to The PAGASA Astronomical Observatory in UP Diliman where  the county's largest and most powerful telescope is housed. Astronomical observations are geared towards sharing astronomy with the general public. It is free and is open to everyone.  You may join scheduled observations, or you may even request one for your school.

Then we went to the  Chapels inside the university, namely The Parish of the Holy Sacrifice is the landmark Catholic chapel in the University of the Philippines, Diliman. It belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cubao. Second The Church of the Risen Lord,  is the official representative of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) to the University of the Philippines System at Diliman Campus, Quezon City

After that, we proceed to The Carillon Tower, with the possible exception of the Oblation statue, nothing symbolizes the University of the Philippines more than the 130-foot Carillon Tower - a structure unlike any other in Diliman, a ringing echo of the University's glorious past.

Just across this, the  Oblation  a sculpture of a young naked man by National artist Guillermo Tolentino in the entrance of the university. The Oblation is the iconic symbol of the school,  represented by a man with arms wide-stretched and face upward, symbolizing selfless offering of one's self to his country.

And lastly, is the The U.P.–Ayala Land TechnoHub, an information technology hub jointly developed by the University and property developer Ayala Land, along  Commonwealth Avenue, occupies 20 hectares within the 37.5 hectares  of the U.P. North Science and Technology Park, with many BPO companies also. Then went back to Quezon City Hall.

What a way to reminish many good stories, memories and histories,  Quezon City is very rich  of. Although we always pass by this place everyday going to and from work. Let us once in a while stop and savor the beauty of this place, which is our very own.
