Child Protection Network Foundation, Inc. (CPN)

• CPN is composed of professionals and individuals who are dedicated to ensuring that all children in the Philippines and throughout Asia are protected from the many faces of abuse. Doctors, social workers, lawyers, police, and volunteers in the 79 Women and Children Protection Units (WCPUs) across the country work hand in hand towards this goal.
• Vision: All children in the Philippines and throughout Asia are protected from abuse and neglect.
• Mission: The Asian Center for Child Protection in collaboration with all Child Protection Units shall serve every abused child with compassion and competence ensuring that all abused children and children at risk are safe, healthy, and developing to the best of their potential within a nurturing family environment.

The proceeds of this annual conference has helped support the establishment of seventy-nine (79) Women and Children Protection Units (WCPUs) across the Philippines.  The goal of CPN is to have at least one (1) WCPU in each province.

Stressed? Coping, Recovery, and Healing

General Objective

By the end of the conference, the participants will be aware of the effects of stress and trauma on health and well-being; they will also be trained to be part of the systems that provide intervention for healing and recovery.

 Specific Objectives

The participants will be able to:

• Explain the biological effects of stress and trauma and how it impacts on every aspect of well-being;
• Identify individuals who are traumatized using screening tools, risk factors and behavioral indicators; and
• Provide intervention in various ways depending on level of competency and training.

Target Audience

The AKO PARA SA BATA Conference draws participation from various disciplines nationwide.  It is usually attended by social workers, teachers, guidance counselors, doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, judges, prosecutors, police officers, NGO workers, community workers, local government units, barangay officials, and professionals from other disciplines who are in the frontline of women and children protection work.

Scientific Program 

• Keynote speaker is DOH Secretary Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial
• There are 6 Plenary Sessions
• There are 7 simultaneous sessions/training workshops. APSB 2016 offers workshop-type sessions aside from lecture-type sessions.

A certificate course on Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) will also be offered for a limited few (30 pax).  The certificate course is scheduled on November 29-30, 2016.  Please see the below TIC fact sheet for further details.

• December 1-2, 2016 (Thursday to Friday)
• Registration on December 1 starts at 7:30 AM. Conference Proper starts at 8:30 AM on December 1 and 9:00 AM on December 2. Afternoon sessions will end at 5:00 PM.
