Metro Naga Launches Naga X (Excursions) As A Major Tourist Destination In Philippines!

    Just came from the concluded Naga X prescon at Barbara's Intramuros Manila. Naga Mayor John Bongat, answered with much enthusiasm, all the questions thrown him, on the launch of NAGA X. 

   I myself, have not yet been to Naga, After this launch, i better see one of our oldest Spanish royal city, next to Manila and Cebu. Thanks to Naga X, now travelling to there would be more fun and exciting as it should. Naga, here i come, soon!

NAGA CITY --- Aiming to fortify its hold as one of the major tourist destinations in the country, Metro Naga, an alliance of sixteen local government units at the core of Camarines Sur with Naga as its flagship city, launched on the evening of March 22, this year, its new tourism brand called “Naga Excursions.”

  “Naga X is colourful as it is the center of the biggest Marian festivity in Southeast Asia. Metro Naga is considered to be the best place to experience the colourful Bicolano life – spicy, expressive and diverse,” according to Lewis Boni, president of the Metro Naga Travel and Tour Operators (MENATTO), the association which is in the forefront of marketing Naga X to prospective tourists

Naga X features four different leading packages of the Metro Naga which also symbolize the colors in the “X” of the Naga X logo - gold for the Spiritual Excursions; red for the Cultural Excursions; green, Nature Excursions; and, blue for the Island Excursions.  

The Spiritual Excursion features Metro Naga as the home of the more than 300 year old devotion to the Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia.  It also highlights Naga as the Pilgrim City of the Philippines wherein millions of devotees flock into the city to understand, celebrate and pray for the grace and love of the miraculous patroness of Bicolandia. The Our Lady of Peñafrancia Pilgrimage Foundation was also instrumental in preparing the tour itinerary for the Spiritual Excursion package and gathering the support of the destination churches and shrines included in the package.
As the 3rd oldest Spanish royal city after Manila and Cebu, the Cultural Excursions showcases the countless museum artifacts, churches and monuments that reflect Metro Naga’s roots as well as the important role it has played in the history of the Philippines. Exposure to the Bicolano culture, especially to the delicious Bicolano delicacies, like the toasted siopao, kinalas, pinangat and Bicol express, is also main feature of the Cultural Excursions
Metro Naga also offers the Island Excursions. Strategically located at the center of the Bicol Peninsula, Metro Naga possesses numerous scenic beaches, coves, marine sanctuaries and dive sites, including the Caramaon Islands, the favorite spot of at least 10 international editions of the TV reality show Survivor. Only two hours away from the urban center, Caramoan is a picturesque paradise of white-sand beaches and pristine islands dotting the emerald Pacific coast of Bicol.

 Speaking before the media and the different stakeholders of Metro Naga during the launching of the Naga X brand, Department of Tourism Regional Director Maria O. Ravanilla expressed her utmost appreciation to the efforts of the alliance.
A product of the Tooling Up for Tourism Project of the Metro Naga Development Council (MNDC), in partnership with Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) and under the auspices of the Local Government Support Program for Local Economic Development (LGSP-LED) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Canadian International Development Agency, Naga X is envisioned to pave the path to sustainable and inclusive local economic development

Naga X is envisioned to spur further the tourism boom in Camarines Sur, particularly in Metro Naga. The tourism sites presented in the Naga X are all ready and are very responsive to the needs of the market,” shares Tessa Sevilla, LGSP-LED Communication Specialist
“Ultimately, Naga X will promote further the image of Metro Naga as a major investment and tourism hub in the Philippines.  It is expected to generate more investments, jobs and infrastructure development in all the 16 municipalities of Metro Naga,” Sevilla added. 
In 2010, Naga City and Camarines Sur became the top tourism destination in the country with more than 2.3 million foreign and domestic tourist arrivals, besting traditional favorites like Metro Manila, Cebu and Boracay.  Since then, tourism arrivals in the city and the province have been growing steadily.
