Hatol ng Bayan, the nationwide and comprehensive coverage of the 2013
National and Local Elections, will be launched on February 20, 2013.
Hatol ng Bayan will be implemented by a host of professional and seasoned
news reporters and information officers under the banner of Media ng Bayan.
Media ng Bayan is the latest partnership of leading news and information
organizations that teamed up to deliver the latest on the elections.
Participating in the partnership are the People's Television Network (PTV),
Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC), Philippine Broadcasting
Service-DZRB Radyo ng Bayan (PBS-DZRB, Philippines News Agency (PNA), Philippine
Information Agency (PIA), Manila Bulletin (MB), Air 21 and Informatics-Diliman.
The launching will take place at 2 pm at
the Atrium of the PIA Building along Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
Organizations under Media ng Bayan will sign a memorandum of
agreement to share resources and expertise with the purpose of delivering
developments unfolding across the country from the campaign period up to the
proclamation of winners as well as feed the electorate with the necessary
information that will enable them to decide intelligently in the elections.

Media ng Bayan, so far, has established a website of its own, mediangbayan.ph as well as

HATOL NG BAYAN
Literally means the people’s judgment, Hatol ng Bayan is the actual coverage of the 2013 National and
Local elections.

The coverage is divided into two phases: the Phase 1 dubbed
“Paghahanda” will focus on the pre-election
events from February 12 to May 11.
This phase will deal on preparations for the elections, the
campaign period and other activities related to voters’ education.
Phase 2, on the other hand, will delve on election eve,
election day and the day after.
So far, at the Paghahanda
phase, Media ng Bayan has developed
channels where voters can get situationers, information on the voting process,
program and platforms etc. to help them make informed decisions come elections.
On February 4, Media
ng Bayan through PTV launched Paghahanda
para sa Hatol ng Bayan that featured personalities and experts on suffrage,
local governments, national and local legislation (the Senate and the House of
Representatives), political parties and multi-party system.
Each episode was aired simulcast over the Philippine
Broadcasting Service-DZRB Radyo ng Bayan
and livestreamed on mediangbayan.ph
And from these episodes, voters got blow by blow reports from
Twitter (@hatol2013), Facebook (Hatol ng Bayan) and Short Messaging System
(Text Blasts from PIA).
Articles on the topics discussed on Paghahanda para sa Hatol ng Bayan were likewise posted on the PNA
and PIA websites as well on the front page of Manila Bulletin.
Replays were aired on
the same day at 10 pm; previous episodes, articles and videos were stored at mediangbayan.ph
which served as the central depository of
Hatol ng Bayan.
On Phase Two, all organizations under Media ng Bayan will be operating 72 hours to deliver the latest on

and development, Informatics-Diliman will provide Media ng Bayan computer and election
monitoring units to help the partnership gather, store and disseminate news and
information needed by the electorate.
Informatics Diliman management will likewise
engage their students and other communities in voter's education.
