About forty of us
bloggers, gathered at One A Events Place ( a conducive place to hold any events) at Antipolo City, Sumulong Highway, the
other night, for the press conference of
The Search for the New Teen Azkals Future!
The press briefing was emceed by Engr.Grace Bondad Nicolas and Mr. Jayson Biadog.
Team Manager, Mr
Alvin Carranza, Team Manager U 17-19, pointed out
that a national team development in any country is always based on the
strength of grassroots.
For this campaign, the search for the new
Teen Azkals will start this coming July and August 2012. On July 7-8, the NCR
selection will be conducted at the University of the Philippines, Diliman and
on August 4-12, the Under 17-19 (U17-19) selection will be held in San Carlos
City, Negros Occidental at the
Football Grounds.
Coach Aris Castillo, was bombarded with questions by the bloggers,
one of which was, as to the criteria of players they are looking for, as Teen Azkals,
he pointed out five criteria, like physically fit , good insights, mental strength
(winner type) and good decision making capabilities. As for the scholarships question, he says, players earn it by
serving the national team. Coach Caslib said they will properly coordinate with
the school or university’s official once a student is chosen to become part of
the Teen Azkals. Thus, the chosen players, and would be future PhilippineTeam Azkals,
will be the representative in national and international competitions. With the dedicated effort of the whole Philippine Team Azkals, they will surely get where they are heading!
The Men’s National team
has developed winning as part of their
habit in the last three years with the 3rd place finish
in the Asian football confederation
challenge cup in Nepal as a manifestation of its success.
The combination of the
good management of Dan Palami,
efficient coaching of Michael Weiss, continuing advocacy
and faith to the whole group of the team manager Alvin Caranza
U17-19 and the players they
have scouted all over the world, manifest the formula for us to move further
and make football the game for Filipinos. However, sustaining the success, entails a lot of layers of
responsibility, hardwork, practice and
task.
A. In the grassroots level, quality grassroots experts are needed in all
the 33 provincial football association
to ensure the football
activities are continuous with
the combinations of training mind- setting,
practice, competitions and festivals for
the kids
At the same time,
grassroots experts must be trained by experts
not only from our country but AFC and FIFA
B. Coaches development
must be sustained. Last year, the first batch of Filipinos took the AFC
A license level and resulted to 7
potential new A licensed coaches in the country.
According to
Atty. Rolando Tulay general secretary-PFF, continuing education is
needed for coaches, as quality coaches
produce quality players , will give more honor in the Philippines
C. Competitions from club
level to age group competitions,
are needed, both for girls and boys, men and women.
This competition will help us identify
talent for future national youth teams .
And finally, the development of national youth teams in the country is important.
And finally, the development of national youth teams in the country is important.
This key component is important and has been highlighted by PFF President, Mariano V. Araneta his program
For us to sustain the
success, national youth teams must be
developed further and exposed to competitions domestically and
internationally.Partnerships with people who believes in the game is an
important ingredients of the program .Elite coaches must be further develop by assessment and continuing education
for new techniques.
National team
development in any country is always based on the strength of grassroots and national
youth teams TM Alvin Carranza 17-19
