New shipping route within EAGA to spur trading between Indonesia and Philippines

DAVAO CITY, Philippines

The opening of the shipping route within the Brunei Darussalam Indonesia Malaysia the Philippine East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) is expected to further enhance trading between the Philippines and Indonesia. 

A Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) ferry service will begin plying the Davao City-General Santos-Bitung, Indonesia route on April 30 2017, which will provide a faster and cheaper channel of trading goods among EAGA’s key cities.

MANILA, 28 April 2017 – President Rodrigo Duterte of the Philippines will play host to fellow Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) when they gather in Manila on 29 April for the 30th ASEAN Summit. 

This is the first of two ASEAN Summits in this milestone year as ASEAN celebrates its 50th anniversary. President Duterte will preside over the opening ceremony tomorrow at the Philippine International Convention Center and the Leaders’ Retreat at the Coconut Palace.
