TB DOTS Clap for a TB-Free Philippines

    Recently, the TB or Not TB Team visited two schools in Quezon City for its #TBDay school tour—San Vicente Elementary School (September 8) and North Fairview Elementary School (September 22).

As part of the Department of Health’s (DOH) campaign to raise awareness on tuberculosis (TB), the students participated in fun and educational activities, which centered on fighting the stigma and debunking the myths and misconceptions about the disease.

Moreover, the highlight of the #TBDay school tour was the teaching of a children’s clap game.   Called “TB DOTS Clap Game,” it aims to educate students about TB DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-Course), an effective method recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) to cure TB and stop its spread in communities. In the Philippines, TB DOTS is offered for free thru accredited DOTS Centers.

The NBSH Championship Finale Hits The Mark

After undergoing a tough and gruelling three-stage sandwich-making competition, Gardenia’s the “Next Big Sandwich Hit (NBSH)” event has finally come to an end with a literally delicious bang! All the ten teams battled tooth and nail to get the top prize and really made life difficult for the judges who had to choose the grand winner in this year’s competition.

“It was really difficult to be one of the judges in this year’s Next Big Sandwich Hit competition.  Not only were all the sandwiches delicious but they were all works of art!  From the preparation of the ingredients all the way to the plating, you can really see each teams’ creativity, passion, dedication, and drive to win.  From start to finish, all the ten teams really gave it their all and I have to give my commendation to them.  I know how hard they all worked and in my book they are all winners,” said Chef Jeremy Favia, one of the judges in the NBSH competition Championship Finale.
