Navigating through the pandemic with Saka Resort”

During summer seasons like this, people escape their homes and seek haven at hotels and resorts. Families would take their children to bond over some pansit, lumpia, barbeque, and halo-halo, as they wait for the sun to move before they jump in the pool to cool themselves down. But with all the restrictions imposed because of Covid, the summer season has been tough on the tourism sector. Such is the case with Saka Resort in Tarlac Province.
However, not all is grim, as Saka Resort complies with all the safety protocols; only accepting less than 50%, making sure cottages are sanitized, and only used every other day. They also have a reservation system in place and refuse entry when the number of people allowed is reached. Deposits can be paid via electronic banking or Gcash to encourage cashless transactions. The pools are cleaned daily to ensure clear and clean water.

Saka Resort is an idyllic part of Tarlac with open air cottages, and lots of outdoor space. Air circulation is not a problem, and you can forego the AC and open the windows if staying overnight.

“Experience provincial living at Saka Resort”

The first thing you would notice upon entering Saka Resort is their Anahaw-made reception area that also doubles as a pavilion for small events, or a community dining area for backpackers. The chairs, tables, and even the displays are mostly made from wood trimmings. The owner confirms this, saying that most of the furniture in Saka are from salvaged wood from trees that have been uprooted by typhoons—the perfect backdrop for a large swimming pool.

You can feel the strong presence of nature when walking around the resort. It does not focus on fancy theme-park slides and gigantic display statues, but on wood, plants, trees, and flowers. The owners lived in the Metro for the better part of their lives, and they wanted their project to be a place where people from the city can clear their minds and enjoy nature.

“I think it is very important that the new generation also find comfort in nature. City life can be stressful and fast-paced, and we want them to appreciate the quiet, serene province. We like hearing relaxed laughter.”
The owner explains.

Saka Resort is located at San Jose Tarlac. You may visit their website at www.sakaresort.com or message them on their Facebook at www.facebook.com/sakaSAKARESORT.

LTO-TESDA signed Agreement driving school standards for the public

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) earlier today signed the Memorandum of Agreement to formalize the agencies' partnership to strengthen driver’s education in the country.

The MOA was signed by LTO Chief Edgar C. Galvante and TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro “Sid” Lapeña. LTO Executive Director Romeo Vera Cruz and TESDA Deputy Director General for TESD Operations Lina Sarmiento served as witnesses to the signing.

The MOA will ensure uniformity of standards among driving schools, and the availability of less expensive training courses, to raise the competency of drivers using the country’s roads.

"We have partnered with TESDA because we want to tap their expertise to ensure the quality of driver’s training being given by driving schools, the LTO and TESDA," Assistant Secretary Edgar C. Galvante said,

Further, the LTO Chief said that with the TESDA, more free driving courses will be available to the public.

"Sa partnership na ito, mas marami na ang ma-ooffer ng gobyerno na libreng driving courses para sa mga interesadong mag-avail ng driver’s training. Ito po ang sagot ng ating mga pamahalaan sa hiling ng publiko para sa dekalidad at murang training program para sa mga drivers," Asec Galvante emphasized.

TESDA DG Secretary Lapeña, for his part, said that the MOA aims to provide "safe drivers."

"Sa ating data from PSA [Philippine Statistics Authorit], isa sa mga pangangailangan sa labor market ay mga qualified drivers. As we transition to the new normal, kailangan ng mga drivers, ito ang constant na pangangailangan ng mga industries. And, we have regional offices who can reach out to those in need of the training. Libre po ito,' Secretary Lapeña revealed.

The MOA will empower TESDA and its training centers to offer the Theoretical Driving Course and the Practical Driving Course equivalent to that being offered by the LTO Driver’s Education Centers. The TESDA Driving National Certificates courses will be equivalent to those offered by LTO.

Further, it will harmonize rules to ensure quality training for drivers. The MOA will complement the existing trainings to address uniformity and standard, at the same time comply with the ease of doing business. This will greatly help the LTO respond to the demand for quality and less expensive driving courses.

For years of being an IT in the Center of the business world, Wall Street, New York City, USA, Andrew Troy Nicolas shifted to help the rising Tag Media and Public Relations eventually became Tag Media Group that manages concerts, advertising, marketing, public relations and campaigns of different companies from different industries in Asia Pacific.

His expertise is Business Intelligence (BI), checking everyday the data as the basis of the actual position. BI technologies provide historical, current, and predictive views of business operations.

As the Group CEO of Tag Media Group, he approves the launching of AAA Cosmetics and Trading Company (GlamHigh Cosmetics, Graceful Skin Essentials, Immune CEE, GlutaGlow Slimming Drinks) last November 2020. As per analysis, even during pandemic, there’s still a demand from consumers who are into weight loss, those who are always in online meetings, for health and wellness and still to beautify or improve their personal appearances since most are staying home so more focus on their physical appearance and well being. As of this writing, the company has more than 100 distributors nationwide with few already in Milan and Taiwan. Targeting at least a thousand at the end of this year, not bad business during Pandemic.

Troy as his team calls him, is the one handling the management of all IT related items and monitoring it like the social media accounts, multiple websites under the company and even some of the content. He is making sure that all has a positive impact in the lives of the clients and followers.

The signature events under Tag Media and Public Relations (Asia Digital Marketing Expo, Asia HR Expo, Asia E Commerce Expo, Dwelo, Asia’s Best Singing Competition)  might be in halt because of this global health crisis but Asia Leaders Forums and Awards (ALA) are still thriving with the support of its stakeholders and organising committee. Announcement of honourees will be this May 20, 2021 and awarding ceremony will be on November 11, 2021 at Embassy of Singapore.

According to Troy, “It’s all about big data and actual projections. We will also continue our AG Builders and Developers, the construction company under Tag Media Group. We’re hiring right now since clients, even afraid of this pandemic still likes to secure their family with a home as their legacy. The brands under AAA Cosmetics are still new but there’s a lot of inquiries. The events are still here even online as we wanted to still be relevant and the followers we have likes to learn more and to see what’s new so we have Cocktail Hour under Asia Leaders Awards, the show with the honourees of ALA to present their lighter side of success. We’re not stopping and keeps on innovating.”

DOST-SEI, partners vow more int’l victories for Pinoy STEM students

From math Olympiads to robotics competitions, Filipino students have been consistently making their mark in the international arena thanks to the tireless efforts of the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) and its educational partners—some of whom have been the agency’s allies for well over two decades.

The Institute and its partners recently reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony on April 14, 2021. The entire event was held online, a poignant reminder of the unusual circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as of the determination and creativity of the various agencies to overcome these challenges.

“While Filipinos will always be known for our resiliency, it’s time that we thrived beyond that,” said DOST-SEI Director Josette T. Biyo. “We are thankful to our partners for helping us and our Filipino youth to grow into something bigger and brighter, through STEM.”

Dir. Biyo presided over the ceremony, with long-time partners in attendance including National Olympiad in Informatics, Philippines; the Asian MathSci League, Inc.; FELTA Multi-Media, Inc.; the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild, Philippines; the Philippine Foundation for Science and Technology; the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology; the Philippine Meterological Society, Inc.; the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs, Inc.; and the Mathematical Society of the Philippines.

“Though the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the educational landscape around the world, we look forward to continue to inspire our youth to pursue STEM careers by showing them that they have the capability to win against all odds in international competitions,” Dir. Biyo concluded.
