The 32nd Caracol Festival winners

The 32nd Caracol Festival held last Sunday was highlighted by a dance competition that showcased different environmental issues. Out of 12 competing groups, Pitogo High School emerged as the Over-all Winner.

Philippine Sustainable Seafood Week 2018

The Philippine Sustainable Seafood Week 2018 opening on Feb. 26 in the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Manila. It heralded the many activities that will happen various high-end partner hotels.
These activities include presentations, chef master classes, cooking competitions, technical workshops, a photo exhibit, and much more on what sustainable seafood is all about. These events will address traceability topics, livelihood impact, certification of sustainable seafood, sustainable seafood policies, and much more.

All this and more will be highlighted in events with most delicious seafood to be served.

 After a near month long of voting and wait, the much awaited results for the SBR.ph awards were out last Saturday, February 10, 2018, with Nikko Huelgas and Kim Mangrobang as the Elite Trialthete of the Year for both men and women category respectively.

Kamuning Bakery Cafe burnt, but continues to bake

 Quezon City’s pioneeer, artisanal and iconic 79-year-old Kamuning Bakery Cafe wishes to express sincere gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of concern and support by multi-generation customers, friends, the general public and others including many artists, intellectuals, government and business leaders, diverse NGOs, etc. after it suffered an accidental and destructive fire last February 6, 2018.
  Special thanks to the media for support in this difficult and sad crisis.

Hotels, restaurants unite to promote sustainable seafood


MANILA -- Last year, a consortium of like-minded individuals and organizations decided to tackle the problem of seafood sustainability in the Philippines and launched the first-ever Sustainable Seafood Week in the country.

Seafood sustainability as a movement has been around since the 1990s and is an ongoing concern to chefs worldwide, with the issue of overfishing and exploitation of marine resources having made certain species of fish endangered, even here in the Philippines.
