EID'L FITR Festival and Celebration!s

       At the lauuch of EID'L FITR International Art Festival, August 2, 2001 at CCA "Culinary Podium Ortigas, Dr. Santanina Rasul, and Ms. Amina Rasul opened said festival along with our brother artist, lead by national artist for sculpture Abdul Mari Imao.

 For this year's festival  organized by Magbabasa Kita Foundation, will feature a variety of activities from country displays by the different Islamic embassies in the country; institutional exhibits by Local Government Units (LGUs), government agencies, and donor agencies working on peace and development initiatives; trade fair of products from  Mindanao; fashion exhibit on traditional Muslim attires; interactive Salam Villages; and cultural presentations.

       The Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) have stepped up support for this year’s Eid’l Fitr celebrations from 9-11 August 2013 at the Atrium/The Block of SM North, Quezon City and in other areas of the country

An Art Exhibit is also scheduled from 2-8 August 2013 at the Podium, Mandaluyong City to kick start the Festival with works of world-renowned  craftsmen led by Abdulmari Imao and fashion creations by Pitoy Moreno                                                Eid’l Fitr (also known as Eid-al-Fitr, Id-Ul-Fitr, Eid) is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal signaling the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting and prayer. Eid literally means festivity and after a month-long sacrifice, Eid’l Fitr (festival of fast-breaking) is looked forward to as a period of merriment, sharing, and forgiveness.

   “The DOT is one with our Muslim brothers and sisters in this year’s celebration of Eid’l Fitr.  As in the past, our participation is a constant recognition of the close affinity with the Muslim community and deep appreciation of our cultural diversity that lends more beauty to our country. The Eid’l Fitr celebration provides opportunities to showcase the best of Muslim culture and traditions, as well as enable guests and even strangers to experience the practice of thanksgiving and sharing.  The Bangsamoro Framework Agreement, a milestone achievement forged under President Aquino’s administration, is one among the many reasons why this year’s celebration is more meaningful,” DOT Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. said.

      The DOT has rallied various tourism-oriented establishments to support the festival.  Among the mall chains with sale and activities are SM (Bicutan, Quiapo, Davao, Lanang, GenSan), Robinsons (Robinsons Place and Starmills in Pampanga) and Ayala (Glorietta 2 in Makati City, Trinoma in Quezon City and Market! Market! in Taguig City).  On the other hand, restaurants offering Halal food are the following Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP) members:  Bacolod Chicken Inasal in Greenhills, Coffee Shop of Bayview Park Hotel, Café in the Park of Century Park Hotel, Riviera Café of Heritage Hotel, Market Café of Hyatt Regency Hotel and Casino and Circles of Makati Shangri-La.

   “We are thankful for the support of these establishments who have responded to our call for participation. The success of Eid’l Fitr is also a testament to the government and people support for the peace process towards the sustainable development of Mindanao.  Tourism is a vehicle to achieve inclusive growth and Mindanao can very well capitalize on its rich natural and cultural resources. We enjoin every Filipino to take an active role in making the entire country a peaceful, more fun, and must-experience destination in Asia,” Secretary Jimenez added.

4. Operation Pag-asa. This will give hope to children suffering from cancer
5. Tribu ni Bro. visit different tribes in country to experience it cultures. also to help in their basic necessities.

If you think you aren’t a good writer, it’s probably because you’ve gotten hung up on the “craft” of writing.  It’s really hard to write well when you’re worried about how you write.

But unless you’re somebody like Nicholas Sparks and you write novels guys hate because you make us all look like insensitive jerks by comparison, style is basically irrelevant.

Writing is all about achieving a goal. Results are all that matters. Whether it’s emails, proposals, reports… good writing gets things done.

So don’t worry about being an artist. Be a technician.

Curative Education Workshop: Children With Special Needs

Dear Parents,

Often we at ST MICHAEL PLAYHOUSE pass on information to you about relevant and essential lectures and workshops that are put together by other organizations dedicated to the full development of the human being. We think that this particular evening lecture (on Aug 5) and three-day workshop (Aug 7-9) on Curative Education will be of interest to those of you who have children with special needs, whether physical, developmental, psycho-social, or other such complex conditions.

Curative Education is defined as a “holistic professional activity integrating elements of care, education, therapeutic and creative activities in the work with children with complex needs. Curative Education acknowledges the importance of relationships and social interaction in promoting healthy development in children.”

Rudolf Steiner, whose indications on early childhood development form the work of Waldorf education, initiated Curative Education in 1924 for such children with complex/special needs. A hyperactive child, for example, or a child with compulsive behavior, has processes that need to be brought into balance. Curative education helps bring about that balance.

The Institute for Steiner's Ideas in Practice (ISIP) Philippines is proud to announce a groundbreaking three-day workshop on education for children with special needs, Enabling Special Abilities: A Workshop on Curative Education. This will be held Aug 7 to 9, 2013, at SEAMEO INNOTECH, Commonwealth Ave., Diliman, Q.C. This will be facilitated by internationally-recognized experts on Curative Education, Becky Rutherford and Jan Christopher Goeschel of the Camphill School of Curative Education and Social Therapy in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. This September 2013, we are once again staging the biggest, nationwide bellydance event in the Philippines, Bellyfest 2013, The 7th Philippine Bellydance Festival. For 3 whole days of dance workshops and performances, we will host bellydancers from all around the country and of course, international guest, bellydance superstar Kami Liddle! Aside from the series of workshops. the festival will feature an entire day of dance and musical performances, mini-workshops, unique bazaar finds and delicious food; culminating in the colorful and spellbinding Grand Show featuring International Bellydance Superstar, Ms. Kami Liddle together with Jill Ngo and the Goddesses of Bellydance and bellydancers from across the Philippines. What makes the Bellyfest special is, it is not just a showcase of talent, but a celebration of sisterhood!

KAMI LIDDLE WORKSHOPS
Ms. Kami Liddle will be teaching workshops on September 6, 7 and 8. Choose from one to four of the workshops below.
FLUID UPPER BODY (Friday, September 6, 7:30-9:30pm)
This class will focus on creating strong and powerful presentation in your posture and execution of upper body movements. Chest isolations, shoulder work, head embellishments, and fluid arms and hands will be the focus of this workshop. We will begin and end with a gentle yoga flow and stretch to help lengthen, stretch and strengthen the muscles needed for strong upper body isolations. A yoga mat is helpful, but not required.

THE SMOOTHER SIDE OF DANCE (Saturday, September 7, 10:00am-12nn)
Boneless snake-like movements are part of the oooh factor in belly dance. We will explore how to work on and expand on simple shapes such as circles, spirals and figures focusing on creating transitions and pathways to move seamlessly from one movement to the next. Several combinations will be introduced and drilled which will later be applied to choreography.

MODERN FUSION CHOREOGRAPHY (Sunday, September 8, 1:00-3:00pm)
Learn a new, upbeat, original choreography of Kami's. This piece has a lot of contrasting elements from turns, to traveling steps to gooey upper body work and sharp locks.

DRUM SOLO CHOREOGRAPHY (Sunday, September 8, 3:30-5:30pm)
Kami will teach a brand new fun and fast paced drum solo choreography. This choreography is stage ready and has lots of fun surprises and variety... not just a pop and lock drum solo.
FESTIVAL DAY
The Festival and Grand Show will be on September 7, Saturday, at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater, Ateneo de Manila University. Festival activities begin as early as 1:00 PM and will feature the Arabian Market and Performance Stage. While enjoying the various shops at the market area, guests will be entertained with a mix of stage events and interactive talks. The stage area of the Bazaar will feature bellydance workshops, fitness and lifestyle demonstrations, raffles and games, and non-stop performances from musicians and dancers.The day's festivities culminates in the Grand Evening Show, starting 7:00 pm, full of colorful costumes, passionate performances, fantastic set pieces and a cast of beautiful and talented goddesses. This year, International Bellydance Artist, Kami Liddle, takes center stage with her distinct style which is a modern fusion of this ancient dance. Sharing the stage with Ms. Liddle is the Philippines' Premier Bellydance Group, The Goddesses of Bellydance; together with bellydancers from across the Philippines.
