Local enterprises across Northern Mindanao generated more than P45.7 million in sales and potential deals during the Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair 2026 in Cagayan de Oro City, August 25 to 31.
The annual trade promotion event, spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 10, gave 111 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) a stronger foothold in consumer and institutional markets, as they showcased their food and non-food products.
The weeklong trade fair recorded P39,963,745 in cash and booked sales, with an additional P5,762,996 currently under negotiation.
Seventy-eight MSMEs operated booths on the trade floor, highlighting regional goods such as coffee, cacao, processed fruits and nuts, snacks, condiments and seasonings. They also featured wearables, homestyle decor and sustainable products made from bamboo and coconut.
Meanwhile, 33 MSMEs met with institutional buyers during the pre-Kahimunan business-to-business matching event on August 19, allowing them to pitch their products and explore large-scale supply opportunities.
The participating businesses also received practical training on digital financial tools, payment terminal solutions and export logistics through sessions led by GCash, Maya and Airspeed. These seminars aimed to help them streamline payment processes and prepare products for wider distribution.
For first-time exhibitor Priscilla Maghanoy of Pem's Food Product, gaining exposure was a critical step in expanding her line of ready-to-drink calamansi juice.
Having previously joined DTI programs to improve her marketing and business operations, Maghanoy noted that her biggest hurdle had always been breaking into the broader market. She credited the Kahimunan fair for finally helping her reach a wider audience in Cagayan de Oro.
“Thank you kaayo sa DTI nga nag-organize aning Kahimunan. Privilege namo nga na-introduce, nailhan amo product diri sa Cagayan,” she said. (Thank you very much to DTI for organizing Kahimunan. We are privileged to have our products introduced and recognized here in Cagayan.)
Through initiatives like the Kahimunan Regional Trade Fair, DTI Region 10 continues to expand market avenues for Northern Mindanao’s MSMEs—helping local products reach more consumers while connecting entrepreneurs with institutional buyers and practical tools to support their next stage of growth.
