The 49th PMAP Annual Conference: PEOPLE’S REVOLUTION or REVOLUTIONIZE PEOPLE?

At the presscon of  People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) today, at Sofitel Manila, PMAP Vice president Evelyn Grace Sorongon said that with the a lot of  happenings in the world today, change of paradigm and mindset is inevitable.

Press Release

Last year, the Arab Spring produced a wave of revolutions.  It toppled dictators and changed the leaders of nations.  But does a change in leaders also produce a change in leadership?

      Not necessarily.

As our own history has taught us, People Power Revolutions only change the leaders.  But a change in leadership – the way our leaders lead – does not always follow.  The past quarter-century has been a slow process of changing our culture of leadership despite the many times we try to change our leaders.

Although these revolutions refer to the world of politics, the same slow process of changing the way we lead can also be seen in the world of businesses and organizations.  This is the space that PMAP can fill this year.

The 2012 PMAP Annual Conference theme, “REVOLUTIONIZING PEOPLE MANAGEMENT”, symbolizes the new mandate:  Change the way we lead our people.

To revolutionize is to change the leadership, without having to resort to changing the leaders.
The time has come to make a bold choice:   Will we risk a revolution by our people?  Or will we choose to revolutionize the way we lead our people?

Now on its 49th year, the Annual Conference of the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) will be held on September 12 to 14, 2012 at the Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.  With the theme, REVOLUTIONIZING PEOPLE MANAGEMENT! GREAT MINDS, BOLD CHANGES, UNPARALLELED RESULTS, this year’s Conference reflects the wave of revolutions on the political front and how businesses and organizations share the same challenge of not only changing our leaders but also changing the way we lead people. As people managers, we say that a change OF men is no longer enough. What we need is a change IN men!

The first two days of the Conference will feature plenary sessions with CEO’s and thought leaders who will tackle the changing business environment and discuss the strategic role of HR in leading and executing HR programs to transform and support business goals. The focus areas of these sessions are; “Deepening Leadership Bench”, “Driving Innovation”, and “Accelerating Talent Development”.

The third day of the Conference will feature breakout sessions and workshops with topics on Talent Acquisition; Organizational Change, People Productivity and People Engagement.  There will also be a SITE BEST PRACTICE TOUR that will showcase best practices of four companies based in Cebu City.  Delegates will also be able to actively participate in creating and managing their own agenda around the central theme of the Conference through OPEN SPACE TECHNOLOGY.

For registration and other inquiries, please call PMAP at tel. no. 726-1532 or email pmap@pmap.org.ph. You can also visit www.pmap.org.ph and follow their Facebook fanpage at https://www.facebook.com/PMAP1956 for updates for upcoming events and other activities.

21st National Retail Conference (NRCE) and Stores Asia Expo, This August 10-12 @SMX!

Distinctive customer experience in the Philippines and its power to drive retail industry growth get the top bill when the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) highlights why shopping is more fun in the Philippines during its 21st National Retail Conference (NRCE) and Stores Asia Expo.

NRCE, the country's biggest retail industry event, converges its energies with the government's well-conceived It's More Fun in the Philippines campaign, as it invites tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez to speak on the campaign's synergy with retail industry growth and more fun shopping experience. Adding to the prestige of the event is Coca Cola’s President and CEO William Schultz who will be the keynote speaker on the opening day of the conference. Coca Cola, which celebrates its centennial year this year is among the well-loved brands in the Philippines. Coca Cola’s participation in this year’s NRCE is expected to further elevate the “fun” aspect of the conference as the brand celebrates “100 Year of Happiness”.

The 21st NRCE is slated on August 9 to 10 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. In the PRA tradition, the NRCE mounts its twin event, the Stores Asia Expo, the country's premier exhibition of retail suppliers and service providers.

The 2-day conference and exhibit is attended by over 800 retail owners, suppliers, CEOs, and top level executives. Each year, NRCE invites experts from the retail industry and other related sectors to cover relevant aspects of retailing. Chief among the bevy of topics at this year’s NRCE are strategies for driving growth and customer engagement.

Amid the global buzz surrounding initial public offerings (IPO), this year’s plenary sessions will include the use of an IPO as a tool for retail business growth.

Successfully engaging new generation shoppers will be well-covered in this event as other topics as boosting customer experience using store design and licensing opportunities for retailers are presented by field experts.

Coming on the heels of two successful NRCEs which zeroed in on Asian brands, this year's gathering moves forward with talks on personalized branding and transforming employees into brand ambassadors.

Participants will also gain more insights on the competitive edge of socially responsible businesses and the retailers' role in advocating a sustainable lifestyle.

There will be two panel discussions each day at NRCE. On the conference’s first day, the morning panel discussion will delve into digital marketing and online commerce. The afternoon panel discussion, on the other hand, is entitled “Global Brands in Local Shores: How Local Brands Can Compete and Succeed vis-Ć -vis International Brands."

The roundtable on the conference’s second day will feature luminaries from retail and property development. Entitled “Retail Entertainment: Creating a New Level of Customer Experience," the morning panel discussion explores how shopping and leisure are intertwined. The conference’s last panel discussion is set to put participants in a hopeful, forward-thinking mood. Entitled “The New Turks of Retailing,” the last panel will feature the young entrepreneurs behind today’s hottest brands and franchises..

The 21st NRCE is proudly presented by PLDT Alpha Enterprise, SM Department Store, Hewlett Packard, Robinsons Malls, Araneta Center, Ayala Malls, Meralco, IBM Philippines, DHL Supply Chain Phils., Inc., Festival Supermall, Wilcon Depot, Celine, The Philippine Star, BusinessWorld, ABS CBN, Schutzen, Mobext, Inc., Crossover 105.1., Entrepreneur, Focalcast, Q Creatives, Cylix Technologies, Mediamagnet, Catalyst Media, Infinite Grafix, Travel Club, APL Logistics, Avolution, Live Media, Starmall and Bayantel.

“Cleaner Air All Around Through RAYCOP Anti-Allergy Cleaners!”

It’s difficult enough to confront an enemy that is clearly visible; but if it’s unseen and equally dangerous, that poses problems.

Frequent and treacherous enemies that threaten the health and well-being of people—and largely unseen by the naked eye—are dust mites and other forms allergens or deadly microorganisms usually found in fabrics like curtains, beddings and linen, and of course in sofas, futons, pillows and baby cribs, the last an utmost concern since it is used by babies. Of course there are others like fungus, molds and mildew, salmonella and the dreaded and deadlier E. Coli.

Dust mites, in particular, are the most common. They are the types of creatures unseen or too-small-to-see without a microscope or magnifying glass. Belonging to the “arachnid” type, which includes spiders, scorpions or even ticks, they usually feed on dead skin or even leftover food from those weekend DVD marathons with the family (popcorn, chips, etc.) on the sofa or even beds and other furniture. However, it’s not the dust mites that actually wreak havoc on our health but their droppings. Most people develop severe allergies like itchy red lumps when they come in contact with dust mite droppings, or even severe difficulty in breathing or asthma attacks once dust laden with dust mite droppings is inhaled.

The good news, however, is that a new device was invented to fight off these dangerous elements through the use of “UVC,” a type of ultraviolet rays from the sun that are germicidal in nature, meaning it can kill various bacteria upon exposure even for a few seconds. And this is the type of technology used by a pioneering vacuum cleaner, the Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy cleaner.

Using UVC light technology patterned after the discovery of Dutch scientist Niels Ryberg Finsen, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine back in 1903 for his “contribution to the treatment of diseases, especially lupus vulgaris, with ‘concentrated light radiation,’” Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy vacuum cleaners is able to kill 99% of bacteria and kills almost 94% of dust mites, and even the fearsome H1N1 Influenza A virus that threatened the country a few years back.

The process of eliminating bacteria and other allergens employed by the Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy cleaner is through its patented 3-step allergy care system: vibrating, sterilizing and double-filtering.

The Vibrating Pad shakes particles and dust mites away from mattresses, pillows and other fabrics and linens by vibrating a whopping 3,600 times per minute, making sure that even the most stubborn dust mites are removed.

This is followed by the UVC Sterilization lamp that kills bacteria to leave surfaces germ-free. Based on lamp technology courtesy of Philips and Sankyo, the lamp uses a highly efficient and effective 253.7 nanometer wavelength, the same germicidal ultraviolet wavelength used in hospitals, clinics and laboratories for more than 60 years now.

Finally, Raycop uses a cartridge filter that captures the larger particles and traps them so they cannot go back to the room and helps extend the life of the Micro Allergy Filter, which is the one that traps the smaller particles to make sure they do not escape as well.

Bukang Sems Co., Ltd. Health and Home Appliances Division, makers of Raycop, through its President, Sung Jin Lee, believes that the compact and convenient Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy Cleaner is a perfect fit for Filipino homes today, particularly for families who wish to make sure that the air they breathe is clean and safe for their entire household.

“We have the product that can help Filipinos clean the air, especially in their homes or even their offices. It has been our goal to make lives of people around the world to become better through our award-winning appliances, and we want Filipinos to benefit from our products as well,” declares Sung Jin Lee, President of Bukang Sems Co. Ltd.’s Health and Home Appliances Division.

Available soon in the country are the Raycop “Smart” and “Hera” product lines.  Raycop “Smart” is the original model and best-selling Raycop product, with more than 1,000,000 sold in 30 countries. The Raycop “Hera,” on the other hand, is Raycop’s latest product, with an ergonomic design and a removable handle. Both products can kill 99% of E.Coli, Staphylococcus and Candida bacteria, and almost 94% of dust mites, with a replaceable Micro Allergy Filtration filter that filters more than 99.97% of dust remnants and keeps cleaning with utmost efficiency. The Raycop “Smart” has a single-vibrating pad while the “Hera,” has a double vibrating pad. Both has a transparent window that tells the user when it is time to empty the dust bin of particles.

The Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy cleaner is the first anti-allergy vacuum cleaner with the Seal of Approval of the prestigious British Allergy Foundation, the TrophĆ©e de la Maison from the French Consumers’ Union and the LOHAS Seal of Approval from the Korea Standards Association. Sold in around 30 countries around the world including the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea, Raycop UVC Anti-Allergy cleaner is manufactured by the Health and Home Appliances Division of Bukang Sems Co., Ltd., the global and award-winning Incheon, Korea-based company whose aim is to help people live healthier and create a better home environment.
