Productivity Tips: 20 Quick and Easy Ways to Be More Productive

Do you often find yourself rushed for time when completing tasks? Do you find yourself taking work home in order to meet a deadline? How well do you deal with interruptions when you are in the middle of a task?
In today's world, success comes to those who have learned to manage their time well. You too can be a good time manager by following these 20 easy time management tips:
1. Create an activity schedule. It might be a good idea to create a schedule the previous night or the first thing in the morning. You can even use your diary to jot down the list of things to do. This way, you are more likely to be prepared for the day ahead and less likely to be caught unawares by something not on your agenda for the day.
2. Set mini goals for the day. Set a time limit for each of your tasks. For example, finish drafting letters by 9.30am, conclude staff meeting by noon, check and reply to emails by 1pm, and so on. This will not only prevent overstepping the time allotted for each task, but will also turn out to be an effective task management tool.
3. Minimize interruptions. While you cannot totally stop people from dropping by at your desk when you are busy, you can set up alternate times when you can make yourself available for them.
4. Eliminate distractions. Try not to keep any Instant Messaging software running when you are at work. Notifications of new emails arriving are another distraction that should be disabled. You can always return to your emails later when you have completed your tasks.
5. Do not give in to temptation. While we are all prone to checking our Facebook and Twitter accounts regularly, it might be a good idea to close or disable 'quick access' icons and toolbars of social networking websites when you are working.

Goya and Kim Chiu Shows Their Big, Loving Heart!

Actress and Goya product endorser Kim Chiu showed once again her big, charitable heart and that she is not all about glitter and glamour amid her whirlwind showbiz life.

As part of her 22nd birthday celebration, Kim prepared a party for the less-fortunate kids from a foundation caring for indigent children, where she gave away special gifts and products from those that she currently endorses, including Goya.

Aside from the numerous gifts, Kim found time from her busy schedule to prepare a special song number just for the kids, who were all amazed and starstruck at the same time seeing their idol bring joy and have fun with them.

And capping off her birthday celebration this year, Goya again gave Kim a Goya cake with a special design inspired by Goya’s packaging, during the young actress’ birthday celebration at popular Sunday noontime show ASAP. Photos show Kim with the kids and posing beside her special Goya cake.

CORAL REKINDLING VENUS AT THE NIDO FORTIFIED SCIENCE DISCOVERY CENTER!

Mallgoers will have the rare opportunity to experience a freefall through the ocean and see the amazing beauty of the marine environment as Coral Rekindling Venus premieres at the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center (NFSDC) Digistar Planetarium at the SM Mall of Asia this June.

A joint project with the Australian Embassy in Manila, Coral Rekindling Venus will premiere on 5 June 2012 in time for the Transit of Venus launch and World Environment Day.

The premiere will also be held simultaneously in full dome theaters in cities around the world such as London, New York, Honolulu, Brussels, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Beijing, Taipei, Mumbai and New Delhi. The film will also have public screenings at the Digistar Planetarium within the month.

Coral Rekindling Venus is a 26-minute film featuring fluorescent coral reefs, bioluminescent sea creatures and rare marine life. It showcases an astounding community living in the oceans that is highly threatened by climate change using dome cinema technology to deliver powerful messages about the importance of maritime conservation.

It is the main feature of a multiple-platform, global project that intends to inspire collective action towards reducing the threats to the world’s oceans. The film’s name takes inspiration from astronomer Edmund Halley’s plead in 1716 for global cooperation amongst warring nations in the observance of the transit of Venus in order to address the astronomical problems of that age.

In Coral Rekindling Venus, internationally acclaimed Australian artist Lynette Wallworth collaborates with cinema’s best underwater specialists and scientists to capture an incredible undersea experience. It features the underwater cinematography of David Hannan, and the music of Max Richter and Fennesz Sakamoto.

The Digistar Planetarium shows are some of the many fun and educational events at the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center.  For more information, visit www.coralrekindlingvenus.com or call 556-2153/556-2193/556-2179 for details.

Telecommunications Service Network for the Deaf (TSND) Launched One Language, One Frequency

One Language, One Frequency
Breaking the Barriers of Speech for the Deaf
A breakthrough tool is set to integrate modern technology in helping the hearing-impaired live their already challenged lives with less difficulty.

It’s a given fact that the technological advancements of late are, to the hearing-impaired, rendered obsolete. With the Filipino deaf community amounting to an estimated three to four million, Telecommunications Service Network for the Deaf (TSND) steps up to introduce a groundbreaking technology that breaks the barriers of language through a convenient teleconference sign language interpreting service—the Video Relay Service (VRS).

Because the right to communicate is a crucial ability not many of us are blessed with, VRS is developed to give the deaf community equal access to communications. Its major components are specialized devices called the V-Pads and the trained sing language interpreter designated to provide assistance. A V-pad is a touch screen videophone with which a deaf user can ask for the help of a trained interpreter for specialized teleconferencing service that enables the deaf user to conveniently converse with virtually anyone in the country for free. With the aid of the VRS, deaf or hearing-impaired individuals can now sign a message and get real-time response in seconds.

Happy National Flag Day!

On March 6, 1965, Presidential Proclamation No. 374 was issued declaring May 28 as National Flag Day to commemorate the date the national emblem was first unfurled after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated the Spanish fores in the Battle at Alapan, Imus, Cavite in 1898. On May 23, 1994, Executive Order No. 79 was issued extending the period of celebrating National Flag Day from May 28 to June 12. All Filipinos are encouraged to display the Philippine flag in all offices, agencies and instruments of government, business establishments, schools, and private homes throughout this period.

The image is a watercolor sketch of the Philippine Flag by Juan Luna for today's start of celebration of Flag Days.

May 28 commemorates the day in 1898 when the flag was first carried into Battle of Alapan during the Philippine Revolution. The celebration starts from May 28 until June 12, the Philippine Independence Day. All Filipinos are then encouraged to display the Philippine flag in all offices, agencies and instruments of government, business establishments, schools and private homes throughout this period provided that they abide the law governing its proper use and display, as mandated by Republic Act 8491 (The Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines).
