WEATHERMEN SLAM MOVE TO DISCREDIT PAGASA

  The Philippine Weathermen Employees Association (PWEA) has condemned an ongoing movement perpetrated by a group cramming to save Project Noah purposely aiming to discredit PAGASA . The employees union of the Philippine weather bureau is set to stage a protest rally to counter the motive of the movement.
We decry the malicious act of this group that is sowing unwarranted intrigues questioning the competence of PAGASA as a warning agency.  We view this as an apparent attempt to discredit PAGASA only to justify the extension of the project “, PWEA president Ramon Agustin said.

“The group claims through the media that PAGASA and its people lacked the capability to provide accurate and timely weather forecasts. These are vicious lies that put to risk the lives of our countrymen. To solicit sympathy for the extension of the project at the expense of PAGASA is a dangerous strategy.  Destroying the credibility of an institution whose mandate is to protect lives of the people is unpatriotic. “ Agustin lamented.

“Portraying PAGASA in the mainstream and social media as an incompetent agency has caused alarming resentment and demoralization among our employees resulting to unwanted work slowdown in our service, he added.

Only recently, NOAH Project Director Mahar Lagmay in a recent press statement expressed doubt on PAGASAs capability to absorb all the technical expertise developed by project Noah. This is an intrigue intended to diminish our reputation he emphasized.

Agustin also warned that PWEA will not allow any group or person that will try to destroy the credibility of PAGASA.
