HEALING that cares inspires Dr. Imelda “Meddie’ Edodollon, MT, MD, NMD in going into integrative medicine as a diverse to the conventional medicine that we Filipinos are used to Dr. Meddie believes that integrative medicine is the best approached in healing the whole person soul well she established the clinic known not just the body, but the person’s mind and a Holistic Integrated Care Center (HICC) medication. The beauty of having the “love based approach in curing a patient in this kind of amazes Dr. Meddie, who has been a practicing medicine doctor for the past seven years. “We have to cure the root cause of the sickness,” she said she further said that in the field of medicine to be called healthy it is not an absence of a disease but a balance of everything.
According to Dr. Meddie integrative medicine combines the conventional which medical doctors are doing and the alternative medicine that are being practice by several people just like taking herbal medicine to treat a particular disease or sickness or illness.
Normally. she said, conventional medicine as doctors usually do in treating a patient departmentalized. wherein the sickness is separated into several sections for example, a cardiovascular disease is treated separately with a kidney disease or other internal diseases.
The approach that integrative medicine uses is holistic, meaning the patient’s body, mind and soul is being treated that is why it takes at least an hour for a doctor to diagnose the patient before giving him prescriptions new field of medication as it Dr. Meddie further said that integrative medicine is totally a whole treats the patient combining the herbal medicine, diet, lifestyle modification among others, it is really holistic in approach, treating the person as a whole, his body, mind and soul.
Medical practitioners like Dr. Meddie would also diagnose the patient, and to discern whether the sickness is brought about by stress, emotional problems, psychological or even environmental Dr. Meddie started doing integrative medicine four years ago and established HICC to cater to the needs of the patients especially those having long standing illnesses that seemed incurable by standard practice. She opted to have HICC rather than doing hospital work or having conventional private clinic.
She recalled that the inspiration begun when her father suffered multiorgan failure (lung, heart and kidney) that may eventually lead to untimely and unexpected death.
As a loving daughter, she succumbed to any kind of therapy that could cure her father and in 2012 she came across integrative medicine. Through integrative medicine Dr. Meddie’s father survived and is still strong until now. Since then, Dr Meddie decided to practice integrative medicine which is governed by the international practices.
She spends time studying several treatment methods and even went to various institutions abroad offering different approaches.
