Embassy launches Italian cuisine cooking workshop to kids of Tondo

To provide an avenue for more career options to underprivileged kids of Tondo, the Embassy of Italy to the Philippines organized a cooking workshop on traditional Italian recipes, the third activity lined up under the “The Embassy of Italy meets the youth of Tondo” festival aimed at exposing the youth to a variety of cultural activities until July intended to contribute to their personal and professional growth.

The event was held at the Fr Gioacchino Hall, San Pablo Apostol Parish last January 30.

Spearheaded by His Excellency, Italian Ambassador to the Philippines Marco Clemente, in partnership with the Canossa-Tondo Children’s Foundation, Inc. of Father Giovanni Gentilin, over 50 kids learned kitchen secrets to cooking and preparing traditional Italian dishes.

“I hope that some of you could learn something useful for your future life,”  the ambassador told the kids who participated in the cooking workshop.

“Maybe some of you would like to become a professional cook. I strongly recommend that because it’s a very good job. People eat, they will never stop eating so if you provide this service, it’s a job that will stay forever, you can open your own restaurant,” he said.

“Maybe in Tondo, you will open the first Italian restaurant here, that would be a good idea,” he said.

Among those were the launch of the 6-month Italian Language Course given to select students from the CTCFI community and an all-Filipino opera performance happening at the covered court of the aforementioned school to promote the beauty and importance of art and music as well as Filipino talent and creativity.
