QUEZON CITY – Orbital Exploration Technologies, Inc. or known as OrbitX is now officially recognized globally as one of the players in the small satellite launch provider industry together with SpaceX. After being listed in NewSpace, featured in Careers in Space and being affiliated with Space4Impact, OrbitX is slowly raising the Philippine flag in the lucrative global commercial spaceflight stage.
According to OrbitX Founder and Chairman Dexter Baño, the vision of OrbitX is to become the most sustainable, most accessible and cheapest space launch provider in the world. “People are always saying that we must solve the issue of climate change and not spend billions in space but why not do both? At the end of the day, the real benefit of space is here on earth especially that we prone to calamities and we must improve our technological capabilities and that includes data gathering for combating climate change that can be possible only through space”, he said. Baño also said that OrbitX is the most confusing venture to be ever built considering that they have a vertical in clean technology especially waste to energy. “What we are doing here is to propel mankind’s future by solving climate, waste and energy concerns and space access. We have industries that cannot be powered by solar cells or batteries and that includes manufacturing, mining and space travel. We will achieve that but not that soon so we at OrbitX is already making sure that we are sustaining earth and accessing space especially that our technologies here can be used for both earth and space applications so why not do them at the same time?”
OrbitX is now done with the initial specifications and design of its Haribon 1 Space Launch System that can carry 200 kilograms of payload to orbit and will be powered by RP-2, a renewable form of rocket grade kerosene also known as RP-1. The company will be open to launch bookings for satellites very soon after they finalize their cost per launch. The team is also raising capital.
