IBALONG is a folklore from Bicol, but it's story is universal, we can all relate from. Saw this epic musical play at CCP yesterday and it made me realized a lot of things, the many meanings of life, many just take for granted. Man is just part of life just as animals, plants and all other life is. we have to know the importance of all, as a whole, so that we can live this life at its fullest, and understand that we cannot be here just on our own, we have to acknowledge and respect everything else because that way, we can fulfill the very reason why we are here for in the first place..

A musical interpretation of the Bicolano epic adapted for the stage by multi-awarded playwright, Rody Vera, which promises to inspire and renew one’s faith in the power of good. Using the yarn of legends it weaves a rich fabric glimmering with ancient truths. It shows how the battle between Dark and Light is as old as time but as relevant today as it was eons ago. It remind us that all actions – however mundane – have consequences and that the pursuit of beauty, truth and goodness is a daily challenge each of us must own; and that paradise is possible; we just have to fight for it.
