This September 2013, we are once again staging the biggest, nationwide bellydance event in the Philippines, Bellyfest 2013, The 7th Philippine Bellydance Festival. For 3 whole days of dance workshops and performances, we will host bellydancers from all around the country and of course, international guest, bellydance superstar Kami Liddle! Aside from the series of workshops. the festival will feature an entire day of dance and musical performances, mini-workshops, unique bazaar finds and delicious food; culminating in the colorful and spellbinding Grand Show featuring International Bellydance Superstar, Ms. Kami Liddle together with Jill Ngo and the Goddesses of Bellydance and bellydancers from across the Philippines. What makes the Bellyfest special is, it is not just a showcase of talent, but a celebration of sisterhood! KAMI LIDDLE WORKSHOPS
Ms. Kami Liddle will be teaching workshops on September 6, 7 and 8. Choose from one to four of the workshops below.
FLUID UPPER BODY (Friday, September 6, 7:30-9:30pm)
This class will focus on creating strong and powerful presentation in your posture and execution of upper body movements. Chest isolations, shoulder work, head embellishments, and fluid arms and hands will be the focus of this workshop. We will begin and end with a gentle yoga flow and stretch to help lengthen, stretch and strengthen the muscles needed for strong upper body isolations. A yoga mat is helpful, but not required.
THE SMOOTHER SIDE OF DANCE (Saturday, September 7, 10:00am-12nn)
Boneless snake-like movements are part of the oooh factor in belly dance. We will explore how to work on and expand on simple shapes such as circles, spirals and figures focusing on creating transitions and pathways to move seamlessly from one movement to the next. Several combinations will be introduced and drilled which will later be applied to choreography.
MODERN FUSION CHOREOGRAPHY (Sunday, September 8, 1:00-3:00pm)
Learn a new, upbeat, original choreography of Kami's. This piece has a lot of contrasting elements from turns, to traveling steps to gooey upper body work and sharp locks.
DRUM SOLO CHOREOGRAPHY (Sunday, September 8, 3:30-5:30pm)
Kami will teach a brand new fun and fast paced drum solo choreography. This choreography is stage ready and has lots of fun surprises and variety... not just a pop and lock drum solo.
FESTIVAL DAY
The Festival and Grand Show will be on September 7, Saturday, at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater, Ateneo de Manila University. Festival activities begin as early as 1:00 PM and will feature the Arabian Market and Performance Stage. While enjoying the various shops at the market area, guests will be entertained with a mix of stage events and interactive talks. The stage area of the Bazaar will feature bellydance workshops, fitness and lifestyle demonstrations, raffles and games, and non-stop performances from musicians and dancers.The day's festivities culminates in the Grand Evening Show, starting 7:00 pm, full of colorful costumes, passionate performances, fantastic set pieces and a cast of beautiful and talented goddesses. This year, International Bellydance Artist, Kami Liddle, takes center stage with her distinct style which is a modern fusion of this ancient dance. Sharing the stage with Ms. Liddle is the Philippines' Premier Bellydance Group, The Goddesses of Bellydance; together with bellydancers from across the Philippines.
