.Chef Boy Logro Cooking Demo with Baguio Oil at Sikat Pinoy 2017

Chef Boy Logro recently performed cooking demos infront of quite a huge audience during one of the days of the Department of Trade and Industry
Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion's (DTI-BDTP) Sikat Pinoy 2017 National Food Fair at the Megatrade Halls of SM Megamall.
Since he is undoubtedly a TV icon already when it comes to hilarious cooking style, Chef Boy Logro did not fail to attract curious food fair visitors who watched him perform 5 easy-to-cook but tasty dishes. Though it took him around two hours for the entire cooking demo, the crowd stayed on until they were treated to actually taste the samples of the dishes he cooked on stage.

The cooking demo was brought to us in partnership with Baguio Oil, 7Flavors Buffet and Ala Carte Restaurant and Royale Caterer. These brands has Chef Boy Logro as their brand endorser of which the chef also has some business collaborations with the latter two companies mentioned.

Of course, the start ingredient of the cooking demo is the Baguio cooking oil which Chef Boy Logro used in all dishes mainly to fry most of the meat, from chicken, beef, fish and pork. As usual, he had his humor accompanying the cooking demo making the presentation a lot more interesting and less boring.

The chef is known for his comedic antics especially when with a female co-host while doing cooking demos at his show under GMA News TV. Chef Boy also has other business like a restaurant in Cavite and a Culinary School where he is able to pass on his knowledge to younger generations of future chefs.

With support from the DTI Regional and Provincial Offices, food entrepreneurs from the regions showcased their regional delicacies, organic products, and fresh produce from March 15 to 19, 2017 to reach the wider domestic market.

Over 200 small and medium enterprises from all over the country have been carefully screened to ensure that they meet the stringent standards set by the DTI-BDTP, in keeping with the theme, “Piling-Piling Pagkaing Pilipino.”

As in previous years, the Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair highlighted certain sectors. For this year, the special settings included: (a) an organic products and hydroponics garden; (b) a halal-certified products pavilion of the Bicol region; and (c) a showcase of Zamboanga Peninsula’s selected products.

Now on its fifth year, the Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair is a much-awaited event for foodies missing the comfort food that they grew up with, as well as those with more adventuresome taste buds looking for new twists to traditional Pinoy dishes.

The five-day fair is both a retail and order-taking event, so institutional buyers and traders are also invited to discover up-and-coming food SMEs for new offerings for supermarket shelves. Corporate consumers like hotels and restaurants will have the opportunity to meet new producers and negotiate with existing suppliers.

According to DTI-BDTP Director Rhodora M. Leaño, “Every year, we see improvements in the submissions from participating exhibitors, in terms of product quality as well as proper packaging and labeling. Through their exposure in the Sikat Pinoy National Food Fair, our SMEs from the regions are upgrading their standards to be more competitive not just for domestic buyers but for the global market as well.”

“Across The Crescent Moon,” the first Filipino film in Dolby Atmos sound, gets exclusive run at Power Plant Cinema

The action drama “Across the Crescent Moon,” starring Matteo Guidicelli, is having a special exclusive run at the Rockwell Power Plant Mall Cinema from March 31 to April 4. This event is made more special because the movie is presented in Dolby Atmos sound, making “Across The Crescent Moon” the first Filipino film to be mixed in the global film audio standard.
Dolby Atmos produces breathtaking sound quality. According to, “The most immediately noticeable difference in a Dolby Atmos system is the use of overhead speakers… In a Dolby Atmos theater, every speaker—as many as 64 total—is powered independently and gets its own separate audio feed…In addition to the overhead speakers, (it) typically adds more surround speakers and screen speakers.”
Baby Nebrida, writer, producer and director of “Across The Crescent Moon” is ecstatic over this great feat. “It is a dream come true!” she declares. “Dolby Atmos transports us into the story with moving audio that flowed all around with breathtaking realism.” The veteran filmmaker described the experience as one wherein “sound moves around in a three dimensional space, so the viewer feels like he’s inside the action.”

Philippines OpenGov Leadership Forum 2017 by OpenGov Asia

Philippines OpenGov Leadership Forum 2017 by OpenGov Asia on March 9, 2017 at Pan Pacific Manila

Enabling globally competitive ict-enabled government to facilitate good governance, strengthen accountability, increase transparency and improve operational efficiency to deliver quality services and make information available to the people

The Philippines was Asia’s fastest-growing economy in the second quarter of the year 2016 outpacing expansions in China , Vietnam , Indonesia and Malaysia. Fueled by an increase in public spending, fiscal reform and renewed investor confidence, the country is now considered a regional showcase for socioeconomic progress. It has adopted a philosophy of inclusive growth under the slogan “Daang Matuwid,” which equates good economics with good governance. This underscores governance as an ingredient in achieving growth.

The Philippines is now faced with the challenge of sustaining its impressive growth and making it more inclusive. This places a demand on government to provide an environment that ensures openness, efficiency in the delivery of services, and spaces for greater competitiveness. Such a demand, together with increased expectations, requires the government to optimize the role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in governance. It must move on from the non-integrated path of ICT development and agency-specific applications, toward a path that leads to an e-Government model that creates more valuable and meaningful services through interoperability and maximization of resources.

The government of Philippines has created “ The E-Government Master Plan (EGMP)” which is a blueprint for the integration of ICTs for the whole of government. It builds on past plans while incorporating current aspirations to create a vision for the future. As such, the plan also describes the systems of governance (e.g. institutions, agencies, processes, resources and policies) that need to be strengthened to make its implementation possible and sustainable. The EGMP presents building blocks for e-Government that include an initial list of priority projects.

14th ASLI Conference 2017

14th ASLI Conference 2017
May 18 2017 at 09:00 am
Novotel Manila Araneta Center
Quezon City Philippines

The 14th ASLI Conference will bring together academics and professionals from Asia and the world, to exchange knowledge related to the theme "A Uniting Force? – ‘Asian Values’ and the Law."
The passing of Singaporean leader Lee Kuan Yew, not so long ago, has inevitably rekindled in many minds his enduring contribution to political thought: the concept of "Asian values." According to him, Asian nations have a distinct social and political ethics that places greater value on the collective and on social order, compared to other value systems that prioritize individual liberties. While easily brushed away by critics as a mere attempt to justify authoritarianism, Lee Kuan Yew’s idea has sparked considerable attention, especially among those who see it as a possible point of unification for Asian countries. Singapore’s success as a viable State presents a strong case for its neighbors. Are there Asian values and are they a uniting force?
This conference will be held for the first time in the Philippines and will be hosted by the University of the Philippines College of Law.
