IdeaSpace Foundation, Inc., in partnership with College of St. Benilde and Smart Communications, bring the #Technopreneur Bootcamp @ College of St. Benilde where participants are treated to a morning of technology and business talks from a lineup of industry experts and startup founders followed by an afternoon of relevant creation, brainstorming with help from mentors and a pitching competition! The top startup ideas will get the chance to win cool prizes too!
Who can register?
This event is open to all students, early graduates, professionals and aspiring startup founders in the Manila Area.
Do I need to have a team before signing up?
No. However, you will need to have team members once you submit your startup idea(/s) on or before the specified deadline of submission. Participants must be part of a team composed 2-3 members only. In forming teams, we encourage you to look for a technical lead (developer/engineer) and a business partner (domain expert/product manager/marketing). Having a designer (for graphics) is also nice to have!
Do I need to submit a startup idea to join the bootcamp?
After signing up here at eventbrite, teams must assign one group leader who shall submit their startup idea at http://apply.ideaspacefoundation.org/ on or before January 3, 2014, 12:00 NN. You may download the PDF application form (under "Download Form") and upload it afterwards (under "Submit Form") or simply use the online form ("Apply Online") available in our website. Please indicate that you are entering your submission through a Technopreneurship Bootcamp in the spaces provided for in the form (HOST SCHOOL: CSB ; LOCATION: Manila; Date: 01-04-14).
Can I submit more than one idea?
Yes. Please note the submission deadline and guidance set above when submitting your idea. Also, the entry must be a proof of concept that clearly demonstrates technopreneurship - an enterprise that is both technically viable and has market potental. Having a prototype is nice to have.
Do I Have to be an IT kind of GUY to enter?
Nope. We are looking for novel technologies in all areas, not just wireless apps. While we encourage all IT folks to join the bootcamp and competition, we also encourage other participants in the areas including agriculture, food technology, education, etc.
Who will get the chance to pitch their startup Ideas?
IdeaSpace will do a preliminary round of judging once the ideas are already in. And we will announce the top teams that will present to the panel of judges shortly before the breakout session where the top teams will get the chance to refine their pitches and consult with mentors. This is a rare chance to have this kind of exposure so maximize the opportunity!
Teams must assign 1-2 group members who will represent the team in the pitching session.
What is the criteria for the pitching competition?
1) Relevance/ Market need or a clear customer pain point- 20%
2) Viability/Marketability (local or global)- 25%
3) Technology Solution (how imique and innovative is the technology being used) - 25%
4) Team - 20%
5) Synergy (integration of ideas to relevant industries) - 10%
